Hello CSA members,
Here’s what you can look forward to in this weeks box (or bag):
Veggies:
- Kale Greens – Great for salads. Dehydrate them with some olive oil and italian seasoning to make kale chips
- Mustard Greens – Put a small amount in your salads to give that extra zing or give them a quick sautee and stick them in your sandwiches
- Cilantro – All around herb that goes in everything and anything.
- Chives – Use them just as you would green onions.
Herbs:
- Peppermint -Makes an excellent tea, and also goes well in a variety of desserts
or Oregano – Put your fresh oregano in any italian dish to get that authentic flavor
- Chocolate Mint – Throw a few sprigs in hot water and add a spoonful of honey to make some wonderful dessert tea
- Lemongrass – Boil it into your broth before making a soup. Adds an amazing lemon-y flavor, often used for Thai dishes
Fruits:
- Sweet Lime – Cut them up likes oranges. Has a very delicately flavored juice that smells a bit of roses.
- Rose Hips – Eat them just like you would an apricot (avoid chewing the bitter seeds, unless you want their medicinal value), or make them into a great fruit jam.
